Kitesurfing Instruction

Ground School: This is the start of your kitesurfing career (and potential obsession). This class takes you from set-up and safety to flying technique, in and out of harness, simulated water-starts and includes kiting theory - some hows and whys. Stormboarding provides kites, harnesses and safety gear. This a small group class with no more than 3 students. You bring sneakers. This class takes place in a field, no water (yet). 2 hours. $95 per person.

Advanced Ground School: This is for people who have some experience flying a kite or who have dabbled in powerkiting but have never had instruction or used a kite over 5m. This is required of people who have not taken a Ground Control lesson with Stormboarding or another PASA-certified school. It will mean we can all speak the same language on the water and will make your water experience much more efficient and successful. 1 hour. $50 per person (if you are the only kiter in your class, this is a 1h15m class).

In the Water: First Ride Lesson: Now it is time to hit the water. This class will take you through rigging and launching a big kite, getting comfortable with the increased power, body dragging, water starts, emergency release and self-rescue and for some, your first rides. This a small group class with no more than 3 students. If you are the only one in the class, it will run for 2 hours. We provide kite, harness, impact vest/PFD and helmet. You must bring water shoes (slip on booties work best) and a wet suit (if needed). 3 hours. . $150 per person (if you are the only rider in your class, this is a 2 hour class).

Individual Kitesurfing Instruction: Work exactly at your pace, no sharing of kites one on one with your instructor. $75 per hour

Windsurfing Instruction

Small Group Learn to Windsurf: We guarantee that we can teach you basic windsurfing in 1 hour thanks to excellent modern equipment and solid sailing techniques. Grab some friends and learn together. We provide all PFD's and windsurfing gear, you bring water shoes and wet suits (if needed). This is a 2 hour class with 2-4 people. $100/hour split between sailors.

Individual Windsurfing Instruction: Take your riding to another level or just work with an instructor, no board sharing. We provide all PFD's and windsurfing gear, you bring water shoes and wet suits (if needed). $75/hour.

Windsurfing Board/Rig Rental: Hooked but not yet ready to buy your own gear? Come sail while we teach others. 2 hour minimum. We also recommend thinking about coming out for an Adventure Trip with friends - they can swim, paddle and play in the water while you sail. Excellent value - and you have witnesses to your skills. $40/hour

NEW: Gear Familiarization Lesson: 

Have you purchased new gear but are not sure how to rig, launch and handle it? Let Rachael work with you and your new gear so you have a full understanding of the features (flying or sailing and safety) as well as handling techniques including self-rescue. $95 (for approx. 1 hour of instruction on land). Good for kitesurfers or windsurfers who have purchased new gear but are not sure how it all works.

Stormboarding Gift Certificate Info:

-GC's are good anytime of year (if you bought a snowkite lesson for someone and they missed the winter, they can apply it toward a kite or windsurf lesson).
-If you have a GC from a previous year it is still good however you must pay the difference if the price on your lesson has gone up
-GC's are transferable but not refundable

Intro to Snowkiting: The coolest feature that snowkiting has over kitesurfing is instant gratification - ride in your first lesson! Start with set-up and safety and learn to fly then ride in this comprehensive 3 hour, small group snowkite class. All kiting equipment is provided, just bring your skis/boards, boots and helmet. $95 per person.

On the Boards: This is our 2 hour next step snowkiting class for people who have taken the intro, who have done some kitesurfing but are just heading out to the snow or people who need a brush up on skills and technique. All kiting equipment is provided, just bring your skis/boards, boots and helmet. $85 per person.

Kitestorm Follow-Up Lesson: For those of you who take the Kitestorm clinic, this lesson will give you a lot more time on the kite as well as the set-up, handling, recovery and riding techniues not covered in the Taste of Snowkite Clinic at the Kitestorm. 2 hours, with no more than 3 people in your class. $85 per person.

Advanced Instruction: Need help getting off the ground or timing your jumps? Need to sort out and tune your kite once and for all? Do you not want to share your instructor or the kites? We give individual lessons tailored specifically to your needs. $95/hour.

Group discounts and custom snowkite programs including expedition rides available. Come as a school groups or a family and learn to snowkite together. Custom programs available.
